2012/13 PLAYOFFS
Posted By: Administrator
Monday, April 01, 2013

DIVISIONAL WIN % IS LISTED IN A TAB ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MAIN WEB PAGE, UNDER PLAYOFF SEEDING. LOOK THERE TO SEE YOUR TEAM'S CURRENT STANDING HEADING INTO THE LATE SEASON STRETCH!

HERE ARE THE RULES FOR THE PLAYOFFS:

All players are required to bring photo identification to all playoff games. If you do not have photo ID you will not be permitted to play. NO EXCEPTIONS

Time:

3 - 14 Minute stop-time periods.
If the score is tied with 7:00 remaining in permit (ice time), the clock will be reset to 2:00.
If the score remains tied at the end of regulation time, the winner will be decided by a shoot-out.
If the score becomes tied with less than 5:00 remaining in permit (ice time), shoot-out will take place immediately.
Shoot-outs:
Each team will designate 5 players for shoot-out. These 5 players will have to be submitted to the time keeper, and must shoot in the order submitted.

The designated players from each team will alternate until all 10 players have shot.
If the score remains tied after the intial 10 players have shot, the winner will be decided by a 'sudden-death' shoot-out.
No player serving a penalty at the end of regulation time will be permitted to participate in the shoot-out.
The original 5 designated players from each team will alternate until a winner has been decided.

Teams will no longer be reseeded as they win, teams will advance through playoff rounds as per the schedule posted online.

Seeding order:

1. Win % (all teams moved throughout the season will be based on divisional win %)
2. Fewer penalty minutes
3. Goal differential
4. Coin toss

If your team is unable to proceed in the playoffs please advise the time keeper at the start of the game.
In this situation the game will be played, but your opponent will continue on to the next round of the playoffs.

Player Eligibility

If any player is determined to be ineligible (not approved for playoffs or playing while suspended), that game will be deemed an immediate forfeit loss and your opponent will continue on to the next round of the playoffs.

Substitute goalies must be approved by league administration.  If they are not approved and on the game sheet they will not be able to play and you will forfeit the game.

This season players will be required to wear "team jerseys" to play in all playoff games.  Accepted forms of "team jerseys" are, your team jersey complete with logo, a solid jersey with a number but no logo, or an NCHL practice jersey with a number on the back.  All jerseys must be the same in color and have distinct numbers.  Any jerseys with matching numbers will not be allowed, with the exception of the goaltender.

Game Sheet Freeze
Posted By: ADMIN
Monday, March 18, 2013

Hello everyone.  As we approach the playoffs the game sheet freeze is now in effect.  What this means is that rosters and stats will be FINAL when you leave the rink each night.  Please MAKE SURE that you have the correct roster of players for your games so that players who need the games towards qualifying for playoffs get them.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the qualification rules for playoffs.  Players need 1/3 (10) games to qualify for the playoffs.

Thanks and good luck to everyone down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Divisional Name Change
Posted By: Administrator
Monday, February 25, 2013

Effective immediately divisions have been renamed following the numbering system. This change is being implemented for the purpose of simplicity going forward and will tie in to forthcoming new rules for Tier 3 that will be in place for the 2013 Summer season. We will transition the division renaming over the next several weeks in an effort to avoid any confusion.

Example:
'Division C' will become 'Division 3' and will temporarily be named 'Division 3 (C)' during the transition.

Moving into the 2013 Summer season Tiers will be structured as follows, Winter 2012/13 Tiers will remain the same:

Tier 1
Division 1
Division 2

Tier 2
Division 3
Division 4
Division 5

Tier 3
Division 6 and lower

Stayed tuned for more information about new Tier 3 rules - coming soon.

2011-12 NCHL Player Survey Results

Over 150 players submitted a survey and gave us feedback on the NCHL and their experience in the league. For a full view of the results visit the Survey results page on the left hand column. With these results we are able to identify the areas that we do well and most importantly the areas where we can improve your experience. Overall respondents give the NCHL a 7 out of 10 ranking. Areas such as game atmosphere, competition, game rules, pim caps, discipline, website and payment options rank very highly.

The two main areas of improvement that were identified were referees and scheduling. Our goal is to always improve the NCHL experience and over the last few months we have implemented a number of new protocols and policies to address concerns in these two specific areas.
